Rinos has reached a major sustainability milestone. From now on, all entrance matting in its standard range is manufactured using ECONYL® regenerated polyamide yarn. This upgrade applies to Connection, Dimensions, Volante, Prisma and Collect. By using ECONYL®, Rinos reduces the CO2 footprint by approximately 5 kg/m², without compromising performance or appearance.
A broad, specialist choice
In 2012, Rinos was the first company to bring an ECONYL® product to market in the entrance matting category. In the past years, 12 entrance matting qualities in the current range had already been progressively converted to this regenerated polyamide. Following the latest upgrade, specifiers can now choose from no fewer than 17 ECONYL® qualities, available in over 90 colours and with a variety of scraping and moisture-absorbent constructions. All Rinos entrance matting is suitable for commercial contract applications in use class 32 or 33. Several products in the range feature HydroTX™, a specific yarn construction that absorbs up to three times more moisture from footwear during the first few steps across the mat.
Up to 75% recycled content
The sustainability upgrade extends beyond the top layer of the entrance matting. In addition to the post-consumer recycled polyamide yarn, the backing also contains a high proportion of recycled raw materials, including post-industrial recycled PVC and calcium carbonate. Depending on the specification, the total recycled content ranges from 55% to 75%.
Suitable for BREEAM and LEED projects
Thanks to the reduced CO2 footprint and high recycled content, all products can now contribute towards BREEAM and LEED credits. An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is available for inclusion in the overall assessment. When specified with the PVC-free Pura Backing™, the entrance matting also has very low VOC emissions, helping to create a healthier indoor living or working environment. To substantiate this claim, our ECONYL® matting with Pura Backing™ has been awarded the Blue Angel ecolabel.
