Endura9

Discover the story behind our coir mats. Endura9 is yarn made from extra-long, durable coir fibres from Tamil Nadu, in the south of India. The fibres — up to 30 cm long — come from the husk of the largest and best coconuts. We spin the yarn from the longest, strongest fibres. Long yarns anchor more securely into the mat backing and are less likely to loosen. Coir mats made with Endura9 yarn last longer, stay beautiful longer and are suitable for project use (class 31 and 32).

India

In Tamil Nadu, in the south of India, Rinos has worked for many years with a number of plantations. This is where the largest coconuts grow — the source of the fibres used in mats with Endura9.

Harvesters select the best coconuts. Others sort the fibres, lay them out to dry, spin them into strong Endura9 yarns or dye the base material. Rinos works closely with dedicated people who understand their craft. Relationships Rinos values, visits regularly and considers essential to the quality of its coir mats.

Quality

Endura9 is yarn made from extra-long, durable coir fibres. The larger the coconut, the longer the fibre (harvested from the outer husk). Before spinning, we remove as many short fibres as possible from the raw material. The remaining fibres reach lengths of up to 30 cm. This ensures yarns of consistent quality, suitable for intensive use. Duratap is even suitable for wheelchair access.

The long staple length naturally produces strong yarn. Coir mats made with Endura9 last longer and stay beautiful longer. Yarns spun from these fibres are less likely to come loose because they anchor more securely into the mat backing. These are the only yarns strong enough to produce mats for project use (class 31 and 32).

Sustainability

The fibres come from coconuts harvested in southern India. A pure natural product, plant-based and quickly renewable — a palm can be harvested up to six times a year. We dye the yarns for our coir mats using environmentally responsible methods: we purify and reuse the water. For the backing, we use recycled calcium carbonate (chalk) as filler. As a result, our coir mats consist of approximately 80% renewable and recycled materials.

Rinos has been producing coir mats since 1925. Over the years, coir has become a fixed part of our product range. With Endura9 and the use of recycled chalk in the backing, we continue that tradition. Rinos remains committed to products with a natural base, making choices that support the sustainable use of renewable resources.

Flexibility

Our coupon service makes it possible to supply Duratap and Rinotap coir mats cut to size, without keeping stock. Rinos cuts the required quality, colour and dimensions per order. Even less common colours are available directly via this service. This allows you to respond flexibly to customer requests, without logistical pressure or storage costs.

Rinos supplies three mat qualities with Endura9 yarns: Duratap, Rinotap and Promotap. Hard-wearing, highly scraping and moisture-absorbing mats. For residential and project environments. Available in a total of 14 colours. Our coupon service makes it possible to supply Duratap and Rinotap quickly and per piece, machine-cut from 200 cm wide rolls, without edging. Minimum length is 100 cm, maximum 500 cm.
